'On The Road' To Premiere At Cannes Film Festival On May 23

Walter Salles/Francis Ford Coppola film based on Jack Kerouac's novel "On The Road" is going to premiere on May 23, 2012 at the Cannes Film Festival in the French Riviera.

Jack Kerouac (1922–1969) was an American novelist and poet. He is considered a literary iconoclast and, alongside William S. Burroughs and Allen Ginsberg, a pioneer of the Beat Generation. Kerouac is recognized for his spontaneous method of writing, covering topics such as Catholic spirituality, jazz, promiscuity, Buddhism, drugs, poverty, and travel.

The film will primarily centre on the relationship between Sal Paradise (Kerouac’s fictional alter-ego) and his friend Dean Moriarty. Producer is Francis Ford Coppola, director is filmmaker Walter Salles. From the cast: Sam Riley (Control, Brighton Rock) is taking on the role of Sal Paradise and he is backed up by Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy), Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen, Amy Adams, Terrence Howard and Steve Buscemi.
