Sad news alert!
You won't be seeing Twilight's biggest stars this weekend—at least not on Sunday at the MTV Video Music Awards…
Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner are not—we repeat, not—expected to attend the big Chelsea Handler-hosted shindig. It'll be weird without them, but with no projects (i.e., Breaking Dawn) to promote, there's no major reason for the trio to be there.
Plus, they're busy. Rob's been on holiday while Kristen and Taylor are off filming nonbloodsucking projects.
No word on other Twi- plans for the VMAs, but we wouldn't be surprised if some of the vampire saga's other costars show up at the VMAs to represent.
And now for the seriously more hard-core Twi-hards out there, Summit Entertainment is celebrating Bella's upcoming birthday by rereleasing Eclipse in theaters starting on Friday.
Dying to come up with a clever way to celebrate Bella Swan's birthday on Sept. 13, but not sure what to do? Never fear, because Summit Entertainment is making it easy for you: "Eclipse" will be rereleased in theaters nationwide on Friday to honor its leading lady's big day!
She probably wouldn't be too psyched about fans flocking to theaters to celebrate her getting a year older (you know how she is about birthdays, and in "Eclipse" she isn't a vampire yet), but we think there's no better way to remind fans why they love the film and help them cope with the more than a year wait until the first installment of "Breaking Dawn." Sorry for the reminder!
"Eclipse" originally hit theaters on June 30, 2010 and generated more than $671 million worldwide. Depending upon how long Summit keeps the film in theaters this time and how much enthusiasm there is to rewatch (or watch for the first time) the movie, "Eclipse" could be the fourth film this year to cross the $1 billion mark.
This also would explain why there's been no news on the DVD front. Summit probably had this idea tucked away for a while now, and rereleasing the film in theaters would be a little moot if it was coming out on DVD shortly after. By the time this second run of "Eclipse" winds to a close, it's highly likely that we'll find out a release date for the DVD, which probably will be sometime around the Christmas season.
On Video/DVD: December 4, 2010
Synopsis: It all begins… with a choice. In the third chapter of Stephenie Meyer’s phenomenal Twilight saga, Bella Swan is surrounded by danger as Seattle is hit by a string of murders and an evil vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, Bella is forced to choose between her love, Edward Cullen, and her friend, Jacob Black—knowing that her decision may ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf.

As you know Breaking Dawn will be filmed in 2 parts, the first part being shot in Louisiana and the second being shot in Vancouver.
RobertPattinsonNews noticed the following in the fine print to the auction of Stand Up to Cancer for the Breaking Dawn set:
The experience will take place between February 1, 2011, and the end of March 2011, when the crew is filming on the Vancouver set. The specific date within this range will be determined based on the film’s production schedule and winning bidder’s availability.
Therefore we can safely assume that filming will be taking place in Vancouver between February and March 2011.

While the "Breaking Dawn" director's chair for both parts 1 and 2 is officially occupied by Bill Condon, "Twilight" fans know that there were several other high-profile names attached to the project before Condon signed on.
Among them was "Lost in Translation" and "Marie Antoinette" director Sofia Coppola. When we caught up with the writer/director to discuss herupcoming Chateau Marmont-set film, "Somewhere," we asked her if there was any truth to the "Dawn" director rumors.
"Yeah, yeah, I talked to them about that," Coppola revealed to MTV News. "I was interested in doing something but I didn't end up doing it. But I love, I'm impressed by Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattison pulling it off in that whole story," she said. "And my friend's kids love the story so much that I thought it would be fun to make something that they love so much."
Asked what she liked best about the blockbuster vampire franchise, Coppola admitted she goes weak in the knees for romance.
"I just love that it's so romantic," she told us. "I'm always a sucker for a love story and also to do something for teenagers, because I feel like, why not have beautiful cinematography and all these things in a kid movie? Usually it looks like it's not crafted very sophisticated, and I feel like it'd be nice to bring that kind of style into a younger film."
Perhaps the studio heads can line up Coppola for the talked-about film version of the "Eclipse" novella, "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner"?
Picture this: Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and YOU hanging on the set of Breaking Dawn.
Sounds far-fetched, yes? Well, maybe not…
A set visit to Breaking Dawn is up for auction in eBay starting today at 4 p.m. PST. Proceeds benefit Stand Up to Cancer, the organization that works to speed up the research and approval of cancer treatments.
We can't guarantee you'll actually hang with R.Pattz & K.Stew, but the package includes travel accommodations to the Vancouver set. And how much for the opening bid? Just $100!
If comic book superhero things are more your thing, a meet-and-greet with Bono and The Edge at a performance of the upcoming Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark musical on Broadway is also on the block.
A set visit to the set of the new Spidey movie starring Andrew Garfield is another option.
