And The Final-ish Verdict On Eclipse Is…?

Twilight, Eclipse, Poster

Vampires and shape-shifting wolves are not immune from the law of summer flings: Even the hottest ones inevitably cool.
And so it has come to pass with Eclipse.

The sequel's Top 10 run at the weekend box office is all but assuredly done. So, how'd it do? What'd it outdo? And is the franchise on the rise?

Let's find out:

• With a $290.2 million domestic take, as of Wednesday, Eclipse is the third-biggest grosser of the summer, and the fourth biggest of the year. Worldwide, it's at about $650 million, which makes it the year's biggest 2-D movie so  far, and third biggest overall, behind the 3-D-assisted Alice in Wonderland and Toy Story 3.

In short, Eclipse was, as expected, big.

"When you consider that the film cost under $70 million, it will probably, along with Toy Story 3, end up as one of the most profitable films of the year," Exhibitor Relations' box office analyst Jeff Bock said in an email.

• Among Twilight movies, Eclipse is No. 1 domestically. So, so much for the argument that Team Edward loyalists turned on the movie over alleged Team Jacob favoritism…

Um, right?

Well, as some aggrieved fang fans may point out, New Moon made a lot of money—more than $20 million—after it fell out of the Top 10. This means that while Eclipse holds a substantial lead over its predecessor now, the race for No. 1 may tighten when all is said and counted. Worldwide, New Moon is the one with the substantial lead over Eclipse.

So, did Eclipse eclipse—or get eclipsed?

Summit exec Richie Fay said Friday he expects Eclipse to keep the edge domestically. Worldwide, he was less sure, saying foreign-exchange rates may cut into Eclipse's bottom line, although the film's overseas attendance has been virtually even with that of New Moon's.

"We're not really looking at franchise fatigue," Fay said. "I think our audience has remained relatively loyal. It might have [even] expanded a little bit."

• Speaking of expanding, shooting on the next Twilight chapter, Breaking Dawn—Part 1, is slated for the fall.
Said Bock: "Expect Summit to [continue to] suck fans' wallets dry."

In a good, old-fashioned vampire way, of course.

'On The Road' Set Update & Pics - Day 2 & Still No Photos Of Kristen

From @teamrobsten411:
*The house they are filming in is gorgeous, it has marble and twirl stairs... All lights are open
*My #OTR set pictures day 2. This is the house they used for interior shots, it's gorgeous inside;)
*This street was full of trucks, trailors and OTR peeps
*Better look of #OTR house- filming was also done on the roof
*You can see the two make-up trailers where i spotted a middle aged makeup artist:)

@twilightquebec: (translated)
*According to my info, Kristen would be filming tonight.
*We have seen the inside of the house, there a lot of people around the trucks to travel tinted windows, the boxes ...but not Kristen :(
*Well, filming is done.. We think we saw her but we aren't coming up.
*I saw a girl from a distance, same size and thickness as Kristen. Same jeans as she wears and Converse ... but when she came out, security saw us so the picture didn't turn out good.. So, I don't know it really was her.

*Just got in touch with a contact and apparently, they are NOT done filming. They are doing the San Francisco scenes here and if you read the book, you know they spend a lot of time there.

Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart Are NOT Quitting Movies

We understand that inciting alarm is part of the strategy for bottom-feeding gossip sites, but sometimes it boggles the mind when an outlet with more credibility tries the same trick.
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewartcould be quitting Hollywood,” claims Marie Claire UK.
Wait, “quitting Hollywood”?
“It seems Rob and Kristen could be ready for a more permanent move,” continues the site. “[They're] considering changing their lives to get away from the limelight.”
Pattinson and Stewart’s frustrations with the paparazzi are well-documented, but that’s not even close to a joint decision to quit movies entirely.
A so-called “insider” comes out of nowhere to say the duo want to “get away from stardom,” while “sources” suggest Pattinson and Stewart “might even spend some time treading the boards in the theatre” after The Twilight Saga concludes.
Let’s cut off this nonsense right now.
Robert Pattinson is not quitting Hollywood.
Kristen Stewart is not quitting Hollywood.
Both actors have been able to make smaller-budget movies during the Twilight period.
They’re both filming projects that they happily joined of their own volition this summer.
Neither Pattinson nor Stewart is just waiting for Breaking Dawn to end in order to make some kind of grand escape into the wilderness.
A source close to Stewart said the speculation is totally false, while a Pattinson insider toldGossip Cop the same thing.
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are part of an enormous film franchise that turned them into worldwide stars coping with an unrelenting spotlight. But they are not fleeing Hollywood.
Marie Claire and others should know the difference.

'Water For Elephants' Extra Talks About Working With Rob & More

Robert Pattinson stood inches from me. Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz, both Oscar winners, were only feet away. Directly in front of me, and behind the camera, sat Rodrigo Prieto, an Oscar-nominated director of photography.

I should have been completely awestruck at the level of talent that surrounded me. Yet the only thing I could truly focus on was my aching feet and legs due to the flat slippers the wardrobe department had given me to wear - and having to stand on them for hours on end.

Playing the Tall Man, a non-speaking, featured-extra role in the film "Water for Elephants" proved to be equal parts fun and exhausting.

Based on the popular book of the same name by Sara Gruen, the story is about a young man who joins a Depression-era circus. I was cast as a part of a group of sideshow performers that included a midget, Wolfboy, the Fat Lady, the Strong Man and a couple of contortionists.

My job was to be present in the background and, in some cases, right up next to the lead actors. I suppose my claim to fame was the scene in which I and a few other men physically shoved Pattinson to the front of a group of circus workers so that he could be properly "initiated" into the circus life by being sprayed with water, pelted with pies and kissed by the showgirls.

But there were other scenes, too, including one on the sleeping car of the train, another when I stood with Pattinson and a few others and watched Witherspoon cavort with an elephant.

There is a chance that I will be seen on screen. But, being familiar with filmmaking, I understand that there is an even better chance that I will not be seen. Wait and see, I guess.

It was fun to meet and work with such talent, including director Francis Lawrence. Yet the thing that I found most impressive - as I always have - was the extraordinary work ethic of the crew.

Breaking Dawn - Part 2 Already Scaring Off The Box Office Competition For 2012

After writing up my post announcing Summit had set a November 16, 2012 release for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 readers began posting in the comments that meant it would be going head-to-head with Disney/Pixar's Monsters, Inc. 2. I hung my head in shame. I should have revealed that information in my article and I immediately wrote myself a note, "When writing up release date articles be sure and look at what other films release on or around that date." It is now burned in my memory.

However, it would seem Pixar was well aware of the scheduling conflict as Box Office Mojo reports they have moved the film up two weeks to avoid making moviegoers choose. Monsters, Inc. 2 will now hit theaters on November 2, 2012, a date they currently have all to themselves. That date previously belonged to DreamWorks Animation's The Guardians featuring the voice of Leonardo DiCaprio, but that film recently moved to November 21, 2012.

The Monsters, Inc. 2 move is a smart one. Any Twilight film should be left to its own devices and everyone else should just stay away.

New Outtake Of Kristen & Taylor From Entertainment Weekly

New Fan Photos Of Rob On The 'Water For Elephants' TN Set Earlier This Week

Melina was among the dozens of lucky fans, who got to check out the Tennessee set of Water for Elephants before production wrapped this week. She shared these great pictures of Rob with us, and her story below.

I took these Monday night & Tuesday night after he was finished filming for the day. We stood out in the 100+ heat and rain just hoping for more than a passing glimpse of him. I had several shots of him on set- but I wanted one of him as himself. All day, while filming, they were very careful not to let you see much of him. After he changed into his regular clothes, I noticed that they weren't so diligent so I figure it wasn't him but the director wanting to keep movie secrets :). Anyway, as he drove by to leave he rolled down his window and waved at us. He was smiling and laughing. I just had to share them, he looks so cute and shy. He looked like he just couldn't believe that all the fuss was about him. My 8 year old daughter screamed at him and he looked directly at her and smiled and waved, needless to say, it totally made her day.

Amy Adams & Viggo Mortensen Join Kristen Stewart As Part Of The 'On The Road' Cast

Francis Ford Coppola has been working for 30 years to turn Jack Kerouac's seminal Beat Generation novel On the Road into a movie. It is starting to look like it was worth the wait. Amy Adams and Viggo Mortensen are joining the Walter Salles-directed adaptation that will begin this month, I'm told. She will play Jane, the emotionally damaged junkie mother of two children and the wife of Old Bull Lee. Mortensen is going to play Lee. Kristen Stewart, Sam Riley and Tron: Legacy's Garrett Hedlund are also set for the pic. Script's by Jose Rivera, who teamed with Salles on The Motorcycle Diaries. Coppola and Rebecca Yeldham are producing.

New Picture of Rob in Chattanooga + the boys that play Rob's sons in 'Water For Elephants'

If you didn't read the article, this is Sonia Gonzales, the mother of the two boys that played Rob's kids in 'Water for Elephants'. She took this picture last Saturday.

Sonya almost managed to make it into the movie herself. In a pinch, they nearly pulled her in as a body double for Witherspoon before deciding not to shoot the scene. But she did manage to get some one-on-one time with Pattinson during the Saturday night cast party. "He was so sweet and really nice and he let me take a picture with him," says Sonya.

And if you're wondering, these are the boys the play Rob's sons in 'Water for Elephants'

Those are screencaps, you can watch the video HERE - You can see a few more of her pictures from the set in the video and she talks a little about Rob. Her kids also give an interview :)
